About the fruit basket
Fruit baskets are an appropriate gift for new parents, as house-warming gifts or for any holiday. A fruit basket is a healthy gift choice. Design your own attractive basket in a container that can be reused by the recipient like a colander or piece of pottery.
Basket Fruit Bouquet
Prepare a fruit basket with a collection of fresh fruit, skewers and florist foam. Use pineapple, watermelon and cantaloupe to make flowers from slices of the fruit. You can use cookie cutters to make Christmas trees, teddy bears or other shapes depending upon the occasion. Stick the pieces on skewers that have grapes, blueberries or strawberries layered on the bottom. Arrange the skewers in the florist foam. Fill in gaps with skewers holding a single type of fruit. Wrap with cellophane and tie with a large ribbon to finish.
Exotic Fruit Basket
Choose tropical exotic fruit for your basket such as guavas, mangoes, papayas, horned melon and passion fruit. Line a light-colored basket with colorful tissue paper and then set the larger, firmer fruits on the bottom. Top with lighter weight fruit and tropical silk or fresh flowers.
Local Fruit Basket
Give a fruit basket full of in-season, local organic fruits to people who are dedicated to a green lifestyle or who eat only locally grown produce. Use a hand-crafted wooden basket and minimal excess material. The entire fruit basket can be wrapped with a natural muslin dish towel and tied with a piece of raffia.
