Barb City Stompers take Opera House stage
SANDWICH — The Barb City Stompers were formed in 2005 when its leader, John Skillman moved to the DeKalb area. DeKalb is where barbed wire was invented and so; the unusual name given to the Stompers.
The Barb City Stompers will take the Opera House stage at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 19.
Their debut CD, “DeKalb Blues,” showcases their affection for Dixieland and New Orleans jazz as well as original music.
The members are: John Skillman, leader and clarinet; Roy Rubinstein, trombone; Larry Rutan, rhythm guitar; Roger Hintzsche, bass; Aaron Puckett, drums and Diana Skillman, vocals.
Tickets are $25, $20 for seniors 65 and older, and $15 for students. They are available at the Opera House box office from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets may be reserved with a credit card by phone at 815-786-2555. The box office will open at 6 p.m. the evening of the show.
Programs at the Sandwich Opera House are partially supported by a grant from the
Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. The Opera House is fully handicapped accessible. Tours and facility rentals may be arranged.
