Finish Drying Racks

Hits: 2

Drying racks can be used to dry a variety of things such as clothes or cabinet doors. These racks need to be finished to ensure that the wet objects drying on them do not deteriorate the wood of the rack. Drying racks can be finished by painting them with a high quality latex paint or by coating them with water-based polyurethane. Follow all safety precautions listed on the labels when using these products.

Instructions
Paint Finish
1
Set the rack on a protected surface. Stir the paint using a stir stick. Dip the paintbrush or foam brush into the paint.

2
Wipe excess paint off the brush on the lip of the paint can. Apply the paint to the drying rack in smooth strokes. Cover the entire exposed surface area of the rack with an even coat of paint. Do not apply paint too heavily to avoid drips. If drips occur, wipe them off with the brush and smooth over the area where they appeared.

3
Allow rack to dry for the amount of time specified on paint label. Turn rack over and paint the unpainted areas. Allow rack to dry completely before using it. Wash your brush out with dish soap and warm water.
