How to Decorate With Barbed Wire
How to Decorate With Barbed Wire
Barbed wire has been used to corral livestock since the late 1800's. It was invented as an alternative method to using straight wire, which was hardly effective. Many people who decorate in western themes, enjoy decorating with barbed wire because it can be bent into shapes that represent western themes. These themes can include boots, hats, lassos, horses, cowboys and even the outline of entire states such as Texas. Once bent, the barbed wire shapes can be placed around a home or business for decoration.
Instructions
1 Choose a shape that you want to be displayed in your home. If you have a western-themed home, choose a western symbol, such as a cowboy boot or the state of Texas. Acquire a visual aid that you can use to view the outline of the shape you choose.
2 While wearing gloves, grasp a piece of barbed wire. The length of the barbed wire should be proportionate to the size you wish to have your final shape. If you want to make a large shape for decoration, start off with a long piece of barbed wire.
3 Bend the barbed wire into the shape you want using pliers. Use the visual aid as a reference.
4 Hang the decoration on a wall using a hammer and nail. You can also use a staple gun and staple the decoration in place.
5 Place excess barbed wire around the room to accentuate the piece you made. Use a staple gun and staples to secure the excess barbed wire.
