How to Organize Kitchen storage racks
A well-organized kitchen will make cooking easier. It can also save you money at the grocery store if you can open your cupboards and see what you have so you don't end up buying something you don't need.
1
Store the things you use most often in the front of your cabinets. If you use an item less than once or twice a month, put it in the back. Purchase a small lazy Susan for the spices you use every day. Put the ones you seldom use behind it.
2
Buy stackable racks to separate tall stacks of plates in your cabinets. Separate dinner plates, luncheon plates and salad plates for easy access. Stackable racks also help to organize canned goods, plastic storage containers and boxed items.
3
Install slide-out shelves in your bottom kitchen cabinets to maximize storage space for mixing bowls, baking dishes and small appliances like mini-choppers, hand mixers and electric knives.
4
Hang pots and pans underneath a small butcher block or in a larger rack over an island instead of trying to stack them in a cabinet. An attractive set can double as kitchen decor.
5
Use the highest shelves for things you rarely use. Keep a stepladder handy so you can get to those things when you need them.
6
Store similar things together, such as canned goods, bottled dressings and cereal boxes. They will stack more easily, and you will be able to see what you have at a glance before heading out to the store. And you won't have to rummage through unrelated things to get to what you need.
7
Buy a pretty set of canisters and use them to store flour, sugar and other dry goods. Half-empty bags are difficult to store and take up too much space.
8
Go through your cabinets once a month to discard things that are out of date. Regular attention to your cabinets will keep them organized.
