Make Fruit Baskets
Did somebody just move into your neighborhood? Do you want to take a gift to someone who just got home from the hospital? Consider putting together a fruit basket. Not only is it healthy, but it is easy and affordable to put together. Here are some tips on how to make fruit baskets.
Instructions
1
Buy fresh fruit. Choose colorful, fresh fruits that are free from bruises. Choose different colored fruits, such as green or yellow pears, red or green apples, oranges and bananas. You can choose to do a seasonal fruit basket, filled with your favorite berries, peaches, plums, apricots, mangos or nectarines. You can find fresh fruit at the local grocery store, fruit stand or farmer’s market.
2
Pick out a basket. You can find baskets at local craft stores, thrift stores, or garage sales. If the basket is dirty, simply rinse it with some water and set it out to dry in the sun. You can choose a basket with or without a handle.
3
Fill the basket. Choose some colorful tissue paper to place in the bottom of the basket. Crumple it up so the fruit has something to rest on. Place the fruit throughout the basket. Be sure to place large sized fruit on the bottom and the smaller fruit on top. In the empty spaces in between the fruit, you can add extra goodies. Extra goodies can include, but are not limited to, nuts, small packages of cheese, crackers and candies. You can also include a magazine, CD, book, gift card or a greeting card with a personalized message inside of it.
4
Decorate the basket. Take a ribbon and wind around the handle of the basket. Ribbon with wire on both sides makes it easier to shape and holds longer. Attach a bow on the outside of one of the sides of the basket. You can also use cellophane wrap to wrap your basket with (the kind used for Easter baskets). This can be found at your local craft store.
