Make Powder Coated Wire Mesh
Make Powder Coated Wire Mesh
Powder coating is a process of creating a solvent-free covering on an item. In contrast to spray paints, the powder coat is a volatile organic compound (VOC) that is fume free and usually more durable. Applying the coating to wire mesh material takes a special sprayer and the ability to heat the mesh evenly. Powder coating materials can be found at a variety of online and local home improvement stores.
Instructions
1
Lay out the mesh as flat as possible.
2
Apply a generous amount of isopropyl alcohol to a clean cloth. Wipe the mesh thoroughly.
3
Screw or snap the can of powder coating into the Corona sprayer device. Plug the gun into AC power using the supplied transformer.
4
Spray the mesh with the powder, holding the sprayer 6 to 8 inches over the surface of the mesh.
5
Place the mesh into the convection oven heated to 390 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
6
Monitor the powder covered mesh. Once the powder melts evenly over the surface, turn off the oven.
