Prep Stainless Steel Grill Grates
Today's grills are high-powered appliances with the ability to smoke, sear or roast meat, and many grills have removable grates for easy cleaning. According to Weber.com, stainless-steel grates have the longest warranty of any grate material and don't require pre-grilling "seasoning" with oil before use. Grilled meats usually contain enough fat to prevent them from sticking to a stainless steel grill plate and vegetables can be sprayed with cooking oil or placed in a grill basket. So which grate is best?
Instructions
1
Remove the grates from the grill and wash them in warm, soapy water with a dish cloth or scrub brush before you use the grill. Dry them thoroughly with a soft cloth. Replace the grates.
2
Brush the grate with a bristle brush made for cleaning grills to remove any food debris. Brush it again after you are done grilling and it has had time to cool down.
3
Remove the grates occasionally and wash them thoroughly in warm, soapy water. Washing them in a dishwasher is not recommended because debris from the grates may clog your dishwasher, according to the Weber.com website.
4
Dry the grates thoroughly to prevent rust before putting them back in the grill after cleaning.
