Types of Mesh Fencing
Mesh fencing is fencing that is made from galvanized or stainless-steel wire. Often used a perimeter or boundary fence for commercial or industrial purposes, it can also be used to contain flora or fauna, such as vegetable gardens or chickens. Mesh fencing is secure and durable and one of the most cost-effective types of fencing on the market. There are several different types of mesh fencing.
Chain-Link Fencing
Chain-link fencing is a mesh fence often made from galvanized steel. Otherwise referred to as wire netting or chain-wire fence, chain-link fencing runs in a zig-zag pattern and forms characteristic diamonds within the fencing. Chain-link fencing is popular in most part because of its low cost and easy installation and is often used to secure temporary perimeters around parking lots or building sites.
Chicken Wire
Chicken wire, otherwise referred to as poultry netting, is a mesh fence used to fence in poultry. Made of thin and flexible wire with hexagonal gaps, chicken wire is also used to build affordable cages for other birds, although the zinc content of the wire makes it bad for animals that gnaw, such as parrots.
Fly-Screen Mesh Fencing
Insect- and fly-screen mesh fencing is made from extremely fine mesh with very small holes. Usually manufactured out of plastic, aluminum or stainless steel, insect mesh fencing prevents unwanted pests from entering an area, such as a tent or closed-off porch, and can even help keep out small rodents, such as mice.
Monofilament Netting
Monofilament netting is mesh fencing that is used to protect crops and other plants from predators, such as birds. It can also be used to protect ponds and other areas where fish live from predators, such as cats. In water, it is also useful in keeping out dead leaves and other unwanted organic matter.
Other Varieties
There are several other types of mesh fencing that vary strength and hole size from those listed above. These include rabbit fencing, deer fencing, sheep fencing, garden fencing and welded mesh fencing.
