Assemble Wire Shelving

Hits: 2

Living space can get tight, especially when you're living in a studio apartment or making room for a new child. Take maximum advantage of closet space by creating your own closet storage shelving system. The prefabricated components can be put together to create dressers, shelves and even tie racks inside a closet's space.

Instructions

1
Create a list of everything to be stored in the closet. Items to consider may be clothes, shoes, ties, toys, books, purses and blankets.

2
Measure the closet's length, width and height. Sketch the closet's dimensions onto some graph paper and begin a diagram of where each shelf will be positioned.

3
Order a closet assembly kit from a home-supply store such as Home Depot or Lowe's, keeping in mind each necessary accessory. If you need help figuring out what accessories to order, you can use order books provided by the manufacturers and available at the supply stores.

4
Measure and mark the dimensions for the shelves on the closet wall, using a pencil. Draw connecting lines with a level. This ensures that the shelves will be completely level once installed.

5
Pre-cut any pieces that need shortening with wire cutters.

6
Install the shelving with the screws included in the installation kit and a power drill. Place the rubber nubs on the end of each wire shelf once installed.
