Build a Coffee Mug Tree Stand
Making a coffee mug tree stand is a relatively easy home craft project. You can paint coffee mug trees to match a specific decor, or you can give them as gifts, or you can even sell them at craft fairs. If you have a couple of hours and a few supplies, you can make a coffee mug tree for anyone to enjoy.
Instructions
1
Paint the 12-inch piece of block wood. This component is important because the wood pole must have four sides on which to hang the mugs.
2
Sand the edges of the round piece of wood. There should be no rough edges. This is the base of your tree. Paint it.
3
Glue the rod onto the base with wood glue. Make sure that the rod is centered onto the wood before placing glue on the center of the bottom of the rod. The rod will be in a vertical position. Don't put on too much glue, as it will ooze out once the rod is pushed down. Dry for approximately 15 minutes.
4
Drill the two screws into the bottom of the base into the pole. The screws must go into the base and through the base up into the pole. Since the pole is 2 inches wide, the screws should be no more than a half inch wide so that they can both go through the pole. These screws and the wood glue make the tree stand durable and sturdy.
5
Screw the L-shaped hooks into the pole. Make sure that the hooks are far enough apart so that the mugs won't touch each other. Place four hooks on each side. Staggering the hooks also helps prevent the mugs form crashing into each other.
