How to Tie a Chain-Link Fence

A chain-link fence can be divided into two basic parts: the chain-link mesh and the fence posts and fence rails, which comprise the skeleton of the fence. The mesh is attached to corners and gate posts by tension bands, which are secured by bolts. However, along most of the Chain-Link Fence line the mesh is tied to the Chain-Link Fence rails and fence posts with wire ties. Properly tying the mesh to the rails and line posts is, therefore, a critical task to ensuring the Chain-Link Fence is a durable barrier.

Instructions
1
Fasten the wire tie to the chain-link mesh just above the fence rail by looping it around the mesh and intertwining the wire tie around itself in a corkscrew fashion with the pliers.
2
Pull the wire tie snugly down across the fence rail, and cross a strand in the wire mesh just below the rail. Do not loop the tie around the rail. Trim off excess wire with wire cutters.
3
Loop the wire tie around the mesh and tie it off on itself by twisting it up in a corkscrew fashion with the pliers.
4
Repeat the process for line posts by crossing the post from left to right or right to left, but not in a loop.
